1. Who is responsible for your data?
PairMuse is operated by the provider identified in the Imprint. Full provider and contact details are available there.
Email: pairmuse.app@gmail.com
2. What data does PairMuse process?
Anonymous account information
PairMuse can create an anonymous technical user account so the app can securely associate data with the correct device and couple. This includes a technical user identifier generated through our backend provider.
Couple and pairing information
When you use Paired mode, PairMuse may process technical user identifiers, the names entered by the partners, a Couple Code or invite code, pairing status, selected game and mood, readiness state and other information needed to keep both devices synchronized.
Game and session data
PairMuse may process the current game session, question or turn number, choices, answers, completion states and similar gameplay information so that shared Paired-mode games work across two devices.
Push notification data
If you enable push notifications, PairMuse processes an Expo push token, device platform, notification-enabled status and the routing information required to send relevant Paired-mode notifications. Push notifications can be disabled in PairMuse or in your device settings.
Support messages
If you use Send Feedback or Report a Problem, we process the message you submit. You may optionally provide an email address if you would like us to be able to reply. We also include basic technical information such as app version and platform with problem reports.
Analytics data
PairMuse uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve the product. Analytics may process information such as app interactions, screen or feature usage, session information, app version, device and operating-system information, approximate location derived from technical information, and app-instance or similar identifiers.
PairMuse does not send the text of your private game answers, Truth or Dare responses, Couple Code, support-message contents, or the email address you optionally provide for support as custom analytics events.
Advertising data
PairMuse uses Google AdMob to display advertising. Depending on your location, consent choices and device settings, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may process information such as IP address, general location derived from IP address, device identifiers, advertising identifiers where permitted, ad impressions and interactions, app interactions, diagnostic information and performance information for advertising, measurement, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes.
Where required, PairMuse uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for and manage privacy choices before requesting ads. Depending on your choices and the applicable rules, Google may serve personalized, non-personalized, limited or technical ads.
iOS App Tracking Transparency
On iOS, PairMuse may ask for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission where the use of the advertising identifier or tracking requires it. If you decline this permission, PairMuse will not receive permission to use the IDFA for cross-app tracking. You can change the permission later in iOS Settings.
Technical data
Our infrastructure and SDK providers may automatically process limited technical information such as IP address, request metadata, timestamps, device or network information, crash or diagnostic information and security logs when necessary to provide, protect, measure and troubleshoot their services.
3. Why do we process this data?
We process data for purposes connected with operating and improving PairMuse, including:
- providing Together and Paired gameplay;
- connecting two partners and synchronizing shared sessions;
- delivering requested push notifications;
- understanding feature usage, engagement and app performance;
- displaying and measuring advertising;
- maintaining security, reliability and preventing fraud or misuse;
- responding to feedback and support requests; and
- improving and troubleshooting PairMuse.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR applies, processing that is necessary to provide core PairMuse functionality is generally based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Processing necessary to maintain security, operate support and protect the service may be based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Where consent is required for analytics, advertising, storage or access to information on a device, personalized advertising, or similar processing, we rely on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR together with the applicable rules for device access. Consent can be withdrawn for the future through the privacy choices made available in PairMuse or, where applicable, through device settings. Apple's ATT permission is separate from consent choices presented through Google's UMP.
5. Service providers
PairMuse currently relies on third-party providers that process data on our behalf or help deliver app functionality:
- Supabase — authentication, database, realtime synchronization and backend functions.
- Expo — app infrastructure and push notification delivery.
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivery of notifications to iOS devices.
- Google Firebase / Google Analytics for Firebase — app analytics, usage measurement and product-improvement insights.
- Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK — displaying, measuring and protecting advertising.
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — collecting and managing applicable advertising and analytics privacy choices.
- Cloudflare — hosting and security for these public PairMuse web pages.
These providers may process data in countries outside your country of residence. Where legally required, appropriate safeguards for international data transfers are used by the relevant provider.
6. Advertising, analytics and your choices
PairMuse uses Google AdMob for advertising and Google Analytics for Firebase for app analytics. Where required, a Google UMP privacy message is shown so that you can make applicable choices regarding data storage/access, analytics and advertising.
On iOS, Apple may additionally show the App Tracking Transparency permission prompt. Declining ATT does not prevent you from using PairMuse and does not necessarily remove all advertising; it prevents use of the IDFA for tracking where Apple's permission is required.
If a privacy-options entry point is required for your region, PairMuse will provide a way to reopen the Google privacy choices so that you can change or withdraw choices for future processing.
7. How long do we keep data?
We keep personal data only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate PairMuse, resolve support requests, maintain security, or comply with applicable legal obligations.
Pairing and game-session data may remain stored while it is needed to maintain the couple connection or session history. Push tokens are used while notifications are enabled and may remain stored in disabled form until they are removed during account or data cleanup. Support messages may be kept for as long as needed to handle the request and maintain an appropriate support record.
You can request deletion of personal data at any time using the contact details below. At present, deletion requests are handled manually.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, receive certain data in a portable format and lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
To make a privacy request, email pairmuse.app@gmail.com.
9. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect PairMuse data, including authenticated backend access, database access controls and server-side authorization for sensitive operations. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when PairMuse changes or when legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date.
